Gardening

We have been spending quite a bit of time out in the yard lately working on the garden.  If you remember I have had a few posts about the garden, even a few pictures now and again.  Well we were out side last night after one rain storm before another one hit, and Corrine staked up some Tomatoes and we did some work on the beans and peas, and even did some work with the zucchini, so we think the garden might be coming along.  Here are a few pics I took with my cell phone, so I apologize for the quality.

Corrine the Gardener

Check out the difference of the Tomatoes and zucchini.

Here is a picture from last month. The first square is where the tomatoes that are in the next picture are located, and the 3rd square back is where the Zucchini’s live.

Tomatoes: Surprise Tomatoes from our Neighbor Zucchini : Huge Zucchini Plants & a few litte Cucumbers too

Wait till next month and I hope to have pictures of the start of the bountiful harvest..  Check back for more pictures…

Fourth of July Weekend

We had a great weekend.  Some of Corrine’s high school and college classmates (batchmates) who now live in either Chicago or Indianapolis came down for the long weekend(Ken, Joy, Barri & Juan), along with May and Shao so Hotel de Kidd was quite the happening place.

Everyone (In addition to the out of town guests, John, Dennis, Rob, Annie, Steve, Laura & my mom ) arrived Friday, had a great time, it was a little cool to play in the pool, so we instead had a big bon fire in the back yard, which was quite cool.  I can’t say I would have ever guessed we would have built a bon fire on the fourth of July and we weren’t that hot (Unless we got closer to the fire).  We then went to the pool deck and watched the Oxford Fireworks.

Then on Saturday, we spent the day around the house playing Wii, and playing in the pool.  We never left the house, we thought about leaving, but just never got around to it.  (It was our mini vacation..)

They Sunday, we went to Church, either OBF or St. Mary’s depending on the preference.  And then we gave the OBF crowd a tour of Oxford and Miami, then went up to lunch, at our favorite local place Phan Shin.  Then it was back to the house, for relaxing and then the out of town guests left.

Since John just bought a house on Monday, there was some work to do, so we went over to see how things were going, and since it looked like they weren’t going to stop for dinner, we invited them, (John, Steve and Laura) over for dinner.  So we played in the pool some and then had some grilled pork chops.  Busy weekend, but a lot of fun.

Around the house

We have been doing quite a bit around the house lately.  Been doing some landscaping, planting some trees.  (Rob and Annie had a big maple tree in their front yard, that has produced a few baby maple trees, so we are trying to figure out where to plant those.

We have officially planted vegetables in our garden.

I took these 2 pictures this morning after I watered the garden, The one on the right is looking east and the one on the left is looking west.  The green poles in the middle of the garden, you see in the right pictures are so that i can put up a trellis or something so we can from beans and peas up there.

We are going to try and do the square foot garden, idea, so you’ll see squares.  Looking at the left picture you can see Tomatoes in the first 2 squares.  Then you will see the Zuccini in the next square, and then the peas & beans, the square just to the left of the peas and beans you can’t see them, but there is corn in that square.  Then next week, we will plant more tomatoes and probably more corn, and probably something else we find around.

Any one have ideas on anything else we should plant?

Busy, Busy, Busy

Its been a busy couple of months. Life is great. We are working around the house, we’ve been doing some landscaping. Lots ‘o mulch. We planted a few little trees. Lillac to be exact. Planted a small garden in the back yard. Actually it’s just tomatoes and peas, and supposedly peppers but we are still looking for those. My buddy Paul, has lent us a tiller, so we can make a bigger garden back behind the pool, but we have to get the tiller working first. And then there’s the pool, we are in the process of opening that up, it takes a little work. If you’ve never had a pool you might not know, but it is.

Any way. And then besides that I have been working on some websites for a few people, and that has definately kept me a bit busy. My most recent site is listed over on the right side of this blog, but incase you can’t find it, it is http://friendsoftimderickson.com Tim is running for re-election of Hanover Township Trustee, so we decided to put a site up to help him communicate with those in the area about him, and what he stands for. So go check it out.
